New Year, New me?..Or nah

What is up family?

So the new year is coming up and and ultimately a lot of us might be working on a list including,  what we aspire to do or what we aspire to become. All of which is fine and dandy, but imagine if we all treated our daily day to day as a new year. Don’t get me wrong, I am absolutely not asking you to stay up to countdown to midnight every day! 😂

Here’s the thing…

Lamentations 3:22-23 (ESV) says the following:

22 The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; 23they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

What is mercy?

compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone whom it is within one’s power to punish or harm.
“the boy was screaming and begging for mercy”
synonyms: leniencyclemencycompassiongracepitycharityforgivenessforbearancequarterhumanity
Now that you have a clear understanding of what the word mercy means, let’s get down to business. Yes?

I see four facts and promises in this scripture

  1. God’s love never ceases.
  2. God’s mercies never end.
  3. God’s mercies are new every morning.
  4. God’s faithfulness is GREAT (Synonym: Substantial, prominent etc…)

No where within those four points or within that scripture do I see it written that, God’s mercies are new every YEAR. Do you? How deceiving would that be? To have to wait until the new year for God’s mercies to take place.

I believe that God has purpose in all He does. So why renew His mercies every morning? When He could have chosen to renew His mercies once a year, once every other year or once a decade. Imagine?

Each day is part of your journey, embrace that. Embrace the fact you’re allowed to take it one day at  a time. You don’t have to wait for the new year to become this noble individual. You can decide to be a better within the span of a day. If people don’t believe in your ability to change, that’s not your business, it’s a them issue. You just keep taking daily steps towards what you are aspiring to become.

By no means am I saying to throw out your New Year’s resolution out the window. What I am saying is that a year consists of months, which consist of weeks, which consists of days. One step each day to get to where you want within a personalized timeline will eventually get you there. We are all different, some people enjoy being overwhelmed because of the adrenaline it gives them and others are planners.

What you do after you have read this blog is is your prerogative, no judgements here! All I’m saying is:  let’s stop treating the end of each year like the college assignment we decided to work on the night prior to the day it is due. If that was the case then I’m passed due by a couple of years on some of my previous resolutions (yikes!). I want you to know that 100% of the time when I write my blog posts, I speak to myself; So you’re not alone. Secondly if you’re adamant in making one or more New Year’s resolution(s), insure them. Just as you would a car, your health, your house etc…

Depend on God first, self motivation are major keys.

If saving up money is a goal and you don’t have a job. PRAY. In due time it will come and I WILL pray in agreement with you, just send me an e-mail.

If saving up money is a goal and you DO have a job, but you’re afraid you’ll spend it before you get a chance to save; Insure that goal but setting automatic bank withdrawals of a certain amount to a locked savings or investment account. An account where you don’t have immediate access to the funds.

If confidence and happiness are your goals write affirmation words and post them on your mirror or surround yourself with positive minded individuals.

This isn’t going to be easy, but know that as long as breath is in your lungs, you have purpose on this earth and destiny to fulfill.

So I leave you with another days promise, written in God’s book.

Psalm 30:5 New King James Version (NKJV)
For His anger is but for a moment,
His favor is for life;
Weeping may endure for a night,
But [a]joy comes in the morning.

Happy New Year family, may you never doubt that you are loved by Abba and reach out for what is yours (without hurting anyone of course). I pray for divine and perfect health for all of you. I pray that you would be overwhelmed & overflow with God’s peace, joy and love. Whatever devious plan, weapon formed, curses & words spoken against you, I rebuke it and it shall not prosper in Jesus name, AMEN.

I love you & HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Peace & blessings,

Joy DelaSoul

Success! You're on the list.
